Gray zone

Harald Uteng is a retired Kripos investigator, and a legend in Norwegian police. Unexpectedly, he contacts a journalist to create a podcast about the murder of 17-year-old Malin Rekve in Aremark in 1991, but Uteng is found drowned just before the podcast is to be released.

Anton Brekke, who was a young police aspirant in the small village when Malin was killed, has no suspicion of anything criminal until he hears the unpublished footage. Eventually Anton reluctantly begins to wonder if the wrong person was convicted at the time, and that a murderer has once again set himself in motion.

In Aremarks grocery store, young Emily now works. She gets a budding feeling that someone is watching her and that she's in danger.
